Seminar Goals & Objectives:

The focus of the seminar is to introduce and enhance the participants’ skill set at developing business plans. More importantly, emphasis is placed on developing business plans that address supply management goals and objectives. In addition, significant emphasis is placed on understanding how business plans and supply management goals and objectives influence the financial performance metrics that a business uses to track its performance. This correlation to tracking financial performance is paramount, as it is the universal operating metric adopted by all business organizations.


Upon completion of this seminar participants should be able to:

  1. Define strategy
  2. List and describe the role of strategy relative to the organizational hierarchy and alignment through the hierarchy
  3. Discuss two models used to describe business level strategy
  4. List and describe the steps within strategy formulation, including situational analysis tools such as SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities and threats), fishbone analysis, Porter’s Five Forces and others
  5. Identify the critical success factors of implementing a business plan, including financial budgeting and
  6. Describe supply management’s role within the strategic process.
